For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit. 1 Peter 3:18 NRSV
Humanity has been cut off from our relationship with God because of sin. We cannot make up for it. No matter what we try to do to make ourselves acceptable to God, we could never do enough, be devout or holy enough. Without God, we are spiritually dead, and subject to the wrath of God. But God loves us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
- The Good News is that God reconciles the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. God loved us and sent his Son Jesus, to live among us, take our sins upon him and die on the Cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- The Good News is that Jesus died for you, and he rose again. The reason he died was to destroy the barrier of sin that was between you and God. He rose from the dead so that you can be given a New Life.
- The Good News is when you put your faith in Jesus, and his saving acts at the Cross and Resurrection, you will be forever changed, Christ will live in you through the Holy Spirit, your sins will be forgiven, and you will be permanently adopted into God’s family.
Jesus died for our sins “once for all.” He said, “It is finished.” from the Cross. Your part is to believe in him. When I first followed Jesus, I had the hardest time understanding that I did not have to earn or deserve God’s forgiveness and salvation. I kept objecting that I was a sinner, that I did this bad thing, and that evil deed. But The Good News is, what I had to do was really simple, just believe in Jesus Christ. In the Bible the Book of Acts tells us, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31 NIV
Please take a moment before you go on to the next page and prayerfully consider that Jesus died for you and rose again. When you are ready to accept this truth, and choose to follow Jesus, I will show you how on the Become His Disciple page.
